Christi Allen serves as Principal of Howry STEAM Academy, following six years of service as Assistant Principal in the Mansfield Independent School District. Her career began in Killeen Independent School District where she taught 1st grade for four years. Following the relocation to DFW, Mrs. Allen served Duncanville ISD in teaching and leadership roles, including teaching second through fourth grades and serving as Instructional Design coach. She remains active in the local community and educational community through involvement in neighborhood service projects, studying with the Raise Your Hand Texas organization, and participation in the Conference for Advancement of Mathematics Teaching.
Mrs. Allen grew up in central Texas and attended school in the Hubbard Independent School District, where she appreciated the comforts and advantages of a small, close-knit community. She received her undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Elementary Education with a specialization in reading. Mrs. Allen earned her master’s degree in Educational Administration from University of North Texas, where she participated as a leadership cohort student and received a scholarship.
Mrs. Allen believes building strong, successful communities begins during youth. Surrounding students with social-emotional support and learning guidance will prepare their transition into leading and thriving in such communities. A collaborative school environment focused on effective academic experiences serves as the key to creating successful students and thriving teachers. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Howry STEAM Academy.
In her free time, Mrs. Allen enjoys nature hikes, gardening, and cooking gourmet meals for her family.
